RLL717AB Railway Laser Lines – Laser Cut O Gauge Acton Bridge Platform 2 Shelter
Acton Bridge Station can be found on the West Coast Main Line, north of Crewe and is a great location for filming freight trains which pass on their way south to places like Felixstowe, London Gateway, Southampton and north to Liverpool, Carlisle and Mossend, just to name a few places. Most of the freight T.O.C’s operate freight through Acton Bridge, so a wide variety of liveries can be seen.
The un-manned station has a free car park, with limited spaces and access is via the main road into the station and down the footbridge to platform 2 for trains to Crewe and Birmingham and down to Platform 3 for trains to Liverpool.
The station has two shelters in similar design, platform 3’s being slightly larger than platform 2’s. When it’s cold, raining and windy, they are an ideal place to stay out of the weather and it was whilst filming here that I was sat inside platform 2’s shelter and thought….. “I’ll measure this up, count all the bricks and design this as a laser cut kit”.
And that’s exactly what I did. I came home a day early due to a cancelled appointment on the Saturday, so spent the day designing the platform shelter. On the Monday, I managed to do a test cut and late Tuesday evening and whilst at home on Wednesday, painted it up and completed it.
The kit has engraved laser cut bricks on both the outer skin and the inner skin to give it that ‘real look’ and has a base and roof for the outer skin brickwork to slot into, with the inner brickwork simply glue to the outer shell. I’ve tried to replicate the bench inside to as close as possible, with slotted slats on top of the concrete bench and also to the rear against the brickwork.
It’ll make a great addition to any platform and hopefully a kit that is actually very simple one to put together.
This kit comes with a parts list. There are NO instructions with this kit as its pretty self explanitory on how this goes together.
