Peterborough Diesel Depot – Including Inspection Pit

Opened in March 1969, Peterborough Diesel Depot served the industry for over 45 years. DB were the last train operating company to use the facilities but from recent photographs online, looks like the shed is no longer used but still remains intact.
The depot has certainly seen some different class of locomotives over that period, but most probably the Deltic has to be the best locomotive to have used Peterborough shed.
The diesel shed incorporated a long inspection pit, which we’ve duly tried to recreate as close as possible to the actual pit. The inspection kit will give you the option to include your own lighting.
The single road shed was constructed of steel supports, with side and end brickwork and finished off with corrugated cladding and windows on both sides, with an entrance on one side only.

Although produced in N gauge and OO gauge by Bachmann, they never did it in O gauge and last year I started the design of this building as I thought it would make an ideal laser cut kit in O gauge. After many hours of design and development, we can now state that this kit will be ready to order from the end of July 2023. All orders will be made-to-order due to the large number of parts that make up this kit.

We also visited ModelU in Bristol earlier this year to discuss the option of having some guttering and downpipes designed to compliment this kit and we’re pleased to say that they have come up trumps with this. Modelu will be supplying this kit so will not form part of the Railway Laser Lines kit. This will need to be purchased directly through ModelU and we will add the link once we know.

Additional Parts Required (Not Included With Kit): Comes as a kit but some parts of the kit will require priming, painting and/or glueing. A sharp craft knife/zippy blade or similar will be required to remove pieces from part of the kit.
Other items required to assist: PVA Glue (or equivalent) Sandpaper, Primer Paint, Acrylic/Enamel Paint, Masking Tape, Paint Brushes. Track not included.

Advise: When priming/painting, do so in a well-ventilated area and use an appropriate mask. Some items are very fragile so handling with care is paramount.
